A Day of Blessings
This week-end and this Sunday in particular is a day of blessings. My thanks to each one of you for your very kind words of good wishes, prayers and reassuring blessings. Today is a celebration of happy memories - of being ordained here in St. Peter’s in 1974, with good friends such as Fr. Charlie Sinnott and Brother Tommy Gilmartin present. I thank God for the blessings received here since 2002, celebrating daily Eucharist with you, of being involved with the International Young Adult Micah community and the Vincentian Lay Missionaries. We offer our sincere thanks to Monsignor John Fitzpatrick, our Episcopal Vicar who will celebrate the Eucharist and the rite of induction. A guiding word for this day? The readings seem to hint at gentleness. St. Vincent uses the French word douceur four hundred times. The challenge: To be gentle with those who have not been treated gently by life. May today be a day of mutual blessings. In gratitude, Michael McCullagh, C.M. 2nd September, 2007 |
