Empowered by the Spirit

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days that “draw us” to Church to acknowledge our brokenness and the need for wholeness.  Pentecost is also an “inclusive occasion” that celebrates not our brokenness but the Spirit within us, he who is the “Lord and giver of life”.  The Holy Spirit is always at work within us who are baptised.  Our awareness of the Holy Spirit is our awareness of our lives and our actions both as individuals and as a community.  The celebration of the Spirit is the celebration of ministry.

· In the liturgy - Spirit empowering us to pray

· In service - Spirit as a source of love

· In formation - Spirit as a gift of enlightenment

· In care - Spirit as life giving

· In order & good of society - Spirit as unity and harmony

Our recent Parish Open Day is an expression of the life of the Spirit present in our Parish.  As I conclude my ministry here in St. Peter’s I wish to thank all of you that shared in and supported me in the ministry of our Parish.

“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus

from the dead is living in you, then he

who raised Jesus from the dead will give

life to your own mortal bodies through his Spirit living in you”.  (2nd Reading)
