Pope Francis invites all Catholics to contribute to a special collection today for Mission Sunday. World Missions Ireland is the Holy Father’s official charity for
overseas mission and is responsible for coordinating Mission Sunday in Ireland. This replaces the usual Share collection.
Where donations were sent in 2016
The Society of Missionary Children funds were distributed to support the physical, spiritual and emotional wellbeing of children in mission territories.
In 2016, €24,000 was sent to
1. Cameroon for three child related projects in two dioceses (Kumbo Diocese & Mamfe Diocese).
The Society for the Propagation of the Faith distributed €840,000 in 2016 tobuild churches, train Church leaders and support faith communities.
